Handwritten works of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
Let me introduce myself, I am Dionisio Redondo, Director of Taberna Libraria, a unique publishing house.
We have published, to highlight the Fourth Centenary of Cervantes’s Death, the commemorative edition: Autógrafos de Miguel de Cervantes –Autographs of Miguel de Cervantes- (please find below the relevant links). We are most proud with the result, since it is the first times that, in a faithful facsimile edition, the handful of his surviving handwritten papers are put together. Indeed, it is pity that only twelve such documents have survived, scattered in various archives and libraries, even in the USA.
In addition, for the very first time a study and analysis of his handwriting has been performed, from the palaeographic, orthographic, diplomatic and handwriting perspectives, by eminent specialists in each field. The work is dedicated to Philip VI, King of Spain, with a foreword by the Director of the Royal Spanish Academy and an introduction by the Honorary President of the Interna
tional Association of Cervantistas.
It has involved a major intellectual effort directed at commemorating the Fourth Centenary of the death of the most distinguished Spanish writer, with an added exquisite technical execution. The work can be customised by a calligrapher with the recipient’s name and with a text before the documents; we believe that this would be a perfect gift, both personal and institutional, for protocol purposes, for all events to be held in 2016, thus permitting such an important remembrance to endure over time.
I hope that this initiative is your liking, and subject to your positive consideration, I remain at your disposal for any clarification whatsoever.
